ID 297438245 © Paulbuhr | Megapixl.com

Ruins of concrete walled hospital building on a hill at Fort Laramie in Wyoming. Construction of the walls entailed mixing sand and gravel with quick lime and water to make a type of concrete and pouring the mixture into molds which could be used over and over. The blocks of concrete were stacked into the walls and capped with more concrete formed around the ceiling joists and roof rafters. Humps of the concrete can be seen where the joists and rafters have rotted away. Non-commissioned officers quarters can be seen to the right of the hospital.
