Small roadside shrines such as this one are usually visible next to some roads in Greece. They are also visible markers of Greek tradition, religion and customs. This roadside shrine was found in a neighborhood in Karlovasi, in Samos. It caught my attention because it is decorated with children's toys. A stuffed smurf doll looks out the small window. Perhaps a child has died in a traffic accident? Perhaps the roadside shrine is placed there to safeguard children in traffic?
