Mittelrheintal is a UNESCO World heritage site including the Loreley passage, also written Lorelei in older form. The passage from Oberwesel to Sankt Goar and Sankt Goarshausen is rather narrow with reefs in the water. During summer drought these reefs become island, inhabited by birds and still hard to see for ship with all the rocks having the same color
