Rasam or chaaru or saaru is a south indian tradiotional soup, prepared using tamarind juice with the addition of tomato, chili, pepper, cumin and other spices as seasonings. It is eaten with rice or separately as a spicy soup. Part of the meal in south indian states of Tamil Nadu, Andra and Karnataka.
