Victoria was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland from 20 June 1837 until her death in 1901. Known as the Victorian era, her reign of 63 years and seven months was longer than any previous British monarch. William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, PC, PC, FRS, in some sources called Henry William Lamb, was a British Whig politician who served as Home Secretary and Prime Minister. His first premiership ended when he was dismissed by King William IV in 1834, the last British prime minister to be dismissed by a monarch.
