Pictured is the quartzite stone sarcophagus of King Tutankhamun inside the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo, Egypt. It contained inner, middle, and outer golden coffins. It was discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter January 3, 1924 in Egypt`s Valley of the Kings. The museum was built in 1901 to a design by French architect Marcel Dourgnon. In 2022, the museum is due to be superseded by the newer and larger Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.
