La Plaza Mayor de Plasencia in the province of Caceres is an arcaded square around the edge and is located in the heart of the historic old city. The Town Hall dominates the square. In the main tower of the building there is a robot, known by all as Piacenza, Mayorga`s grandfather, who acts as the clock tower rings the bells every half hour. This building dates from the XVI century and has been restored several times over the years is a transition style from Gothic to Renaissance. On one side of the Town Hall is the old jail building built in the seventeenth century with a facade of masonry and a shield of King Philip IV.
