Nazi Germany is most remembered for their persecution of the Jews, however they also persecuted other groups of peoples, like intellectuals and artists, Communists and the handicapped, as well as gays and lesbians. All these different groups were assigned a color code, pink being received for the gays and lesbians, which was also a bigger triangle than the others. Because of those atrocities, the color pink and the triangle have become symbols of pride in the gay and lesbian communities around the world, and this Pink Triangle Park and Memorial in the San Francisco Castro District was dedicated on the United Nations Human Right Day of December 10 in 2001, in a naturally occurring triangular intersection perfect location for the Memorial. As enjoyed 16 October 2023.
