Van Gogh chooses siesta as his theme in imitation of the French artist Jean Millet. Also known as `La Meridienne` in French, Van Gogh`s `The Siesta` is considered one of his masterpieces.The unique artistic saturation of the painting is achieved with the help of contrasting complementary colors: blue-violet and yellow-orange.
