Patuá is a small lucky amulet or protection against negative energies and used by people linked to the Afro/Brazilian religion of Candomblé. Made from a small piece of fabricor plastic in the color corresponding to the Orixá a deity of African mythology. Inside this container a certain preparation of herbs and other substances is placed. The amulet measures about three centimeters and is hung around the neck or kept in the person`s pocket.
