The Atenas park formerly called Campo de la Tela is a green space located near the Royal Palace of Madrid . It is delimited by Calle de Segovia , Paseo de la Virgen del Puerto , Cuesta de la Vega and the southern wall of Campo del Moro , which can be considered an annex green space. Its primitive name of Campo de la Tela comes from being, in the times of Philip II , a place for jousting and tournaments. It was declared a park in 1971 .
