The marble bust by Alessandro Algardi represents Donna Olimpia Maidalchini, sister in law of Innocenzo X Pamphilij. The Palace Pamphilj houses today the Gallery Doria Pamphilj and displays an important collection of baroque paintings and sculptures. Among the paintings art work by Jacopo Tintoretto, Tiziano, Raffaello Sanzio, Correggio, Caravaggio, Guercino, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Parmigianino, Gaspard Dughet, Jan Brueghel il Vecchio, Velázquez. The fortune of the family starts with Pope Innocent X , born Giovanni Battista Pamphilj or Pamphili. He was Pope from 15 September 1644 to his death in 1655.
