The iconic red telephone box in London was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Its particular bright red color can also be found in many other typical elements of the English city, such as post boxes and double-decker buses. In 1924 the Post Office sponsored a competition to redesign telephone boxes and Scott won the competition with the K1. This acronym identifies the very first telephone booth model which, over time, has undergone some substantial changes. The latest model of London telephone box is called K6.
