The channel is part of the plan Ruimte voor de Rivier Room for the River to prevent high water problems by creating extra riverbeds in case of high waters in the river itself. The poles are set on pillars to allow the water smoothly to pass in case of flooding. The grass on the fields has been harvested. The skies are cloudy with patches of blue. In the horizon a sturdy rain shower.
