On Golden Pond
Have you ever seen the classic film On Golden Pond?
It`s a heartfelt movie based around an elderly couple, played by a sweet Katherine Hepburn and a curmudgeonly Henry Fonda, as they vacation in a picturesque cabin in New Hampshire. Their daughter visits the cabin to try and repair the strained relationship with her father Norman before its too late.
One of my favorite little scenes in the movie is seeing the joy in Katherine Hepburn`s face as she spots loons on the lake. She cries out, `Norman! Look, look! Oh, I`ve spotted the loons! Oh, they`re so lovely!` I can easily understand that joy after kayaking a Vermont pond and a loon popped up 25 feet away. Paying me no attention, the loon looked at me and then dove underwater, disappearing and only re-emerging after minutes of time.
The loon’s call is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sounds in nature.
