The olive, both the tree and the fruit having the same name, have been used by humans for at least the past one hundred thousand years. The fruit can be eaten as is, and the oil pressed from it is used as a garnish, for cooking and light. Interesting also, it is related to both lilac and Jasmin, as well as the white ash tree. Because of its history, it has been associated as a symbol of peace, health and status by many religions going back to the Ancient Greeks. As seen 1 October 2023.
