This Improved Powers Well Boring Machine, built by Seth Powers, is on exhibition in Apache Junction, Arizona/USA. It could (can) bore to a depth of 150 - 300 feet. Drilling procedure (simplified): The cable is attached to the auger. A horse, hitched to the platform lever, moves in a circle and thus rotates the entire platform, boom and auger.
