Focus of image is a large brown, fluted and enameled butler sink. The sink is shallow and mounted on brick pedestal, there is a scrubing brush in the sink. To the left is a small draining area and part of a wooden lid to an old boiling copper.To the right is an antique looking cast iron hand water pump. it has a large lever for pumping water up to the sink. The floor is made of old quarry tiles and there is also a mop and mop bucket on the floor.The sink scene is illuminated by an old wooden framed window the light being defused by a lace or net curtain. The whole scene looks victorean or at least pre C1900. It also looks more like a washroom than a kitchen sink. The walls are whitewashed. Part of an ornate highly patterned old cast iron range can also be seen.
