Okapi (Okapia johnstoni) photographed in the Bronx Zoo, New York, USA. They are found in the tropical rain forests of Central Africa, mainly in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Although striped like a zebra, they are more related to the giraffe. They are solitary animals and threatened with extinction due to loss of habitat, hunting for meat in the war ravaged country, where no proper conservation measures can be undertaken.
