Oakworth Station opened in 1867 and closed in 1962 until preservationists took over the branch line in 1968. Now part of Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR), the Edwardian-style station is preserved as a tourist attraction with vintage steam trains travelling the 5 mile long heritage railway. It was used as the central location in Lionel Jeffries 1971 classic film version of Edith Nesbit’s book, ‘The Railway Children’.
