Novi Sad is the capital of the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina and is the second largest city in Serbia, after Belgrade. Founded in 1694, Novi Sad was an important cultural and merchant center. Pictured here is the Orthodox Cathedral of Saint George, the biggest orthodox church in Novi Sad. It was built between 1860 and 1905, after the old one was destroyed during the Revolution of 1948.
