Nigueles is located on the flanks of the Valle de Lecrin ravine. In the back of the village the 3000 meter high mountain `Pico del Caballo`. The origin of the village starts in the Islamic era, hence some Moorish architecture is still visible. There are still several medieval buildings such as an oil mill and a flour mill.
