Located in the Yangtze River in Dongshuimen, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall is the collective name of the Qing Dynasty ancient buildings and the antique new buildings. It is the largest ancient guildhall building group in the city center in China. The current Guild Hall is a reconstruction of the Qing Daoguang and Guangxu periods. It has a history of nearly 300 years and is a historical testimony of Chongqing as a prosperous trading area in the Qing Dynasty. On the one hand, the construction space of Chongqing Huguang Guild Hall is large and magnificent, and its structural features the style of Hui architecture, an architecture style mainly popular in the western part of Zhejiang province, China. On the other hand, due to Chongqing’s unique geographic feature, the Guild Hall also has some distinctive characteristics of Chongqing’s regional architecture. The whole hall is built according to the mountain, with some slight changes in height. It’s worth mentioning that the Chongqing Huguang-Sichuan Immigration Museum is also located here. It vividly presents a very important wave of immigration in the history of human immigration – the Huguang-Sichuan immigration movement. This museum is the first immigration museum in China, which is based on the background of “Huguang Filling Sichuan”. It draws a whole picture of the political background, economic factors and the entry routes of this immigration movement.
