The Nguzumba glacier is the longest in the Himalayas. Its length is 36 kilometers. The tongue of the glacier moves at a speed of 180 meters per year. There are numerous lakes on its surface. They pose a potential danger to the underlying villages in the event of a breakthrough of ice shores.
