This magnificent metal sculpture, called Dancing to the Heartbeat of My Ancestors (2014) prominently adorns the Sculpture Garden that is part of the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on top of Museum Hill (Milner Plaza) in Santa Fe. The sculpture was created by Kathy Whitman. Her Indian name is Elk Woman. She is a member of three affiliated tribes, the Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara from the upper Missouri River, in North Dakota. Her reservation is called Fort Berthold, where she also grew up. Her website: www.elkwoman.com - The sculpture is created with carved Portuguese marble and hand-fabricated steel. It is 7 feet (213 cm) tall and shows a dancing Indian woman.i
