Naples, Campania, Italy - February 5, 2017: the ceiling of the ornate Capodimonte museum room known as `Porcelain Sitting Area.` Built between 1757 and 1759 by Giovanni Battista Natali for the Queen Maria Amalia, it consists of more than three thousand pieces of Chinese life depicting scenes and characters praising King Charles. Originally installed in the Royal Palace of Portici and transferred in 1866 in the Royal Palace of Capodimonte, the rich decoration is the most significant example of the taste for chinoiserie which spread in Europe in the eighteenth century
