Static display of aircraft used to fight forest fires in western United States and Canada. Early planes which were mostly mothballed military aircraft and were modified to carry large volumes of water or a slurry of water and chemical fire retardants. Aircraft used were usually propeller driven cargo planes which could fly low and slow enough to accurately place the drops exactly where needed. This model had additional jet engines to assist in takeoffs with heavy loads.
