Rwanda: Murambi technical school. Murambi Genocide Memorial Centre is a powerful and stark memorial of the horrendous genocide which took place in Rwanda (1994). It is an old technical school were up to 60,000 people sought shelter from the interahamwe during the genocide. Approx 1,800 bodies of the 27,000 exhumed from mass graves are on show in previously classrooms. The memorial was produced as a mute but chilling eloquent reminder that such events must never be allowed to happen again.
