Pictured is a mural commemorating the opening of the Dallas-Oak Cliff Viaduct, located in the Bishop Arts District, Dallas, Texas. The mile long bridge was begun October 24, 1910, and opened to traffic February 22, 1912. It was acclaimed as the longest concrete bridge in the world, a designation later disputed as a publicity stunt. The Bishop Arts District is a small shopping and entertainment district in north Oak Cliff, immediately southwest of Downtown Dallas. It was originally developed as warehouses and shops in the 1920s.
