The Basilica of Sant' Apollinare in Classe is an important monument of Byzantine art near Ravenna, Italy. Being in the Unesco World Heritage sites it is a very important touristic attraction. This is a detail of the beautiful golden decoration of the apse, 6th century. A large disc encloses a starry sky in which is a cross with gems. Lower there is a green valley and the figure of Saint Apollinaris.
