In the Indian city of Benares, life takes place on the street from sunrise to sunset. In the portrait we see two men sitting on the wet street. The old man wears an orange cloth wrapped around his waist and his chest is bare. He has bare feet. The younger man is cleaning the old man`s teeth. For this he uses a special stick called miswak, a cylinder approximately one centimeter thick and 10 or 15 centimeters long which is a piece of root of the Persian savior. Used for centuries as a natural toothbrush, its fibrous branches have been promoted by the World Health Organization for oral hygiene use.
