The Moreton bay fig, Ficus macrophyllais a very strange tree indeed. For starters, the young tree need the assistance of another tree, which actually aids both trees. But, once the Ficus is big enough to reach the ground, it will strangle the other tree. Being from arid regions of Australia, the roots will grow up so as to help support the trunk of the tree. But in so doing, can also destroy walk ways. As seen in the San Francisco Botanical Gardens of Golden Gate Park 10 March 2022.
