In an ordinary Odessa courtyard at the end of Deribasovskaya Street there is a monument to the creator of Esperanto Lazar Markovich Zamenhof
As a child, Zamenhof dreamed of creating an international auxiliary language for communication between representatives of various nations. At first, he wanted to bring back to life Latin or ancient Greek in simplified versions, but over time he decided that his goal was more in line with the creation of a new language. As a teenager, Zamenhof worked on such a project until he considered it ready for publication. December 17, 1878
