Josip Juraj Strossmayer (Osijek, February 4, 1815 – ?akovo, April 8, 1905), Catholic bishop, politician and benefactor. He was appointed bishop of Bosnia or ?akovica and Srijem on September 18, 1849, and enthroned on September 8, 1850. Great patron of culture and art, initiator of significant social activities and prominent champion of the People's Party (1860–1873). year In 1860, he donated 50,000 forints for the foundation of JAZ, and in 1866 he donated the same amount for the establishment of a modern university in Zagreb.the monument is located in the center of the town of ?akovo in Slavonia-Croatia
