Mississippi River, Natchez, Mississippi, taken 5-8-11. HESCO baskets, the modern version of sandbags, are filled and stacked to form a wall to protect historic buildings against flooding. These containers keep out flood water more efficiently than traditional sandbags and can be filled mechanically and much more quickly. Record high water levels are expected in the coming weeks.
