ID 305107432 © Williamsphere | Megapixl.com

Mimicry of another species happens often in various species. It is less common to have a flower mimic a bird, but this tropical flower found in Southern California and around the world looks like a blue bird with a display of yellow tail feathers. In the genus Strelitzia, this plant is native to South Africa where it is known as a crane flower. With five different varieties, these annual 3-5 foot tall plants have different color intensities.
