MG Motor UK Limited, trading as MG or MG Motor, is an automotive company headquartered in London, and owned by the Shanghai-based Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor. The company markets cars under the MG marque, a British marque that was established in Oxford, UK in 1924.The current form of the company was established in 2009, two years after SAIC Motor acquired Nanjing Automobile, another Chinese company that first acquired the marque in 2005. Under Nanjing Automobile ownership, the company was once known as NAC MG UK Limited.MG Motor markets cars sold under the British MG marque, while vehicle manufacturing takes place at SAIC's plants in China. MG Motor also produces cars in Thailand, India and Indonesia for the respective local markets.
