On Sunday October 17, 2019, several ceremonies took place to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Metz by the 95th United States Division. First in Metz-Bellecroix, on the square where there is a very beautiful statue of an eagle erected in memory of the iron men of the 95th division of the United States, Then on the Place d'Armes in downtown Metz near the town hall and the cathedral. Veteran GIs Anthony DUNO and Ceo Bauer were present with their families from America. Many high-ranking officers, General U.S. James ARCHER, Governor General Christian Bailly, elected officials, senators, deputies, mayors Prefect, Mayor of Metz, and VIP attended these ceremonies in the presence of the army. Laying of wreaths Flag bearers colored these ceremonies in the freezing weather. these festivities were organized by the Association Lorraine Etats-Unis chaired by Michel Vorms and Denise Demay.
