The Duesenberg SSJ has many differences from the usual Duesenberg models. It had a shorter wheelbase than the J and SJ, and also had a supercharged eight-cylinder with DOHC. In 1935, however, Ford was just beginning to offer flat-push-rod V8s. But Duesenberg wasn`t the only company making twin-camshaft engines at the time. For example, Stutz, another Indiana-based car company, developed its own twin-cam inline-8 engine, and it even had four valves per cylinder.
