This is the carp decoration placed on top of the roof of the Himeji Castle, Himeji City, Kansai, Honshu, Japan during the Meiji era (1868-1912). The display of the carps used in the Edo, Meiji and Showa eras is open during the major maintainance works being done on the castle.
