In 1625 Liguria is involved in the brutal events of the Thirty Years War. The Duchy of Savoy and the Republic of Genoa are in conflict with each other. It was during this war that Taggia turned to St. Benedict, because their city was not affected. To this day is celebrated in February, the Holy Protector. Celebrations San Benedetto a costume party the most important region of Liguria (Italy). The districts of Taggia set in some areas most characteristic historical paintings that evoke moments of life lived fully seventeenth century. The incidents depicted are inspired by the events actually took place, drawn from the documents kept in the Historical Archives.
