Memorial to fallen soldiers of the army and the far eastern territories - Memorial Arch, located in Marseille. The idea to erect a monument in honor of the victims of the war of 1914-1918 appeared in the interwar years, as evidenced by the record of the architect Gaston Castel. So, the project of a memorial arch appears in 1920. His conceptual idea was to create a monument with a strong base, which would symbolize the determination and courage of the soldiers. Recent depicted on either side of the arch, they proudly stare into the distance, perhaps in anticipation of a new enemy attack. The place for the monument was chosen by chance - the embankment to the monument could be seen from afar. The arch was built in 1927. Blame shared by architect Gaston Castel and sculptor Antoine Sartorio.
