Marmolada is the highest mountain of the Dolomites (3,343m). The Dolomites are a mountain range located in north-eastern Italy. A tourist mecca, the Dolomites are famous for skiing in the winter months and mountain climbing, hiking, as well as paragliding in summer. Free climbing has been a tradition in the Dolomites since 1887. In August 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
