The cast of NBC-TV weekly entertainment program, "Real People," take a cruise on the Chicago River in 1979. The show ran until 1983. Mark Russell, on far right, served as a political wit and curmudgeon. Others in the cast include Skip Stephenson, Sarah Purcell, Bill Rafferty, and Byron Allen. The group was joined by then mayor Jane Byrne. Allen was the youngest cast member at 18. He found his niche as a comedic host and entrepreneur and has amassed a vast personal fortune. Stephenson died in 1990 and Mark Russell passed on March 30, 2023.
