Mapalana Falls is the third highest waterfall in Sri Lanka originated from Adam's Peak in Rathnapura District. It is 141m in height. According to legends, the fall gets its name from a local nobleman (Maapaa) who used to bathe at this fall. The Maapaa-Nana (place where the noble bathe) became Mapanana and later Mapalana.
