The whole statue is 20.5 meters high, the statue of Chairman Mao Zedong is 10.5 meters high, the base is about 8 meters high, 11 meters wide, 23 meters long and the statue is 3.5 meters high. This landmark sculpture has been created since 1967. After three years, hundreds of people have participated in it. After its completion, it has become one of the few sculpture treasures in turbulent times. In the whole country, Mao Zedong`s statue is the main one and only one is lined with giant group sculptures. Both local residents in Shenyang and people from other places who come to Shenyang on business trips will take photos with Chairman Mao Zedong in front of the sculpture in Zhongshan Square. It is because of this group of statues that Zhongshan Square has become a unique landmark in Shenyang. Up to now, many film and television works will show Shenyang`s urban appearance through this group of sculptures.
