Mani Peninsula. La Maina is a geographical and cultural region of Greece, which occupies the central peninsula of the three which extend southwards from the Peloponnese in southern Greece. The peninsula is popularly called the middle finger. The peninsula forms a continuation of the Taygetos mountain range, the central spine of the Peloponnese, stretching from the Gulf of Laconia, in the east, and the Gulf Messenico, west. The towns are very small and isolated, the most important of which is historically Areopoli. Photo of a particular rear of the small church called Gardennitza built of stone and with the dome covered with shingles.
