Mandarin duck. Mandarin duck is a medium-sized species in the duck group (about 45 cm). Male has a very distinctive plumage with big-headed appearance, pinkish-red bill (tip pale), very broad whitish supercilium, broad orange-rufous fan of pale-streaked ‘hackles’ on lower sides of head, erect pale-tipped dull orange-rufous wing ‘sails’ and two white bands on sides of black breast.
