Thanks to the rainy season in California, Lake Cachuma is experiencing water levels higher than it has seen in over five years. As of March 28, 2019, it is at 78.0% of capacity. Boaters and anglers of all ages are enjoying the rebirth of this beautiful lake. Anglers at Cachuma Lake go after largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, catfish, crappie, bluegills, and redear sunfish. Cachuma Lake is stocked with 150,000 trout annually from October through April. Cachuma Lake is a reservoir in the Santa Ynez Valley of central Santa Barbara County, California on the Santa Ynez River adjoining the north side of California State Route 154. The artificial lake was created by the construction of Bradbury Dam, built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1953. Its surface area covers 3,100 acres.
