The triceps brachii muscle, commonly known as the triceps, is a large muscle located on the back of the upper arm. It is responsible for extending the elbow joint, straightening the arm, and is involved in many upper body movements such as push-ups, bench press, and dips.The triceps muscle has three heads:Long head: This is the largest and longest head of the triceps muscle, located on the back of the upper arm. It originates from the infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula and inserts into the olecranon process of the ulna.Lateral head: This is the second largest head of the triceps muscle, located on the outside of the upper arm. It originates from the posterior surface of the humerus bone, above the radial groove, and inserts into the olecranon process of the ulna.
